Located in the old colonial suburbs, the house has 4 poster beds and elegant breakfasts. Within walking distance is the Nairobi National Park and Karen Blixen’s home, now a museum. The house is also used as a first-and-last night Kenyan stop for those on a safari vacation.

Located just outside Nairobi, this Scottish baronial-style manor and 140 forested estate was built in the 1930’s by the Scottish toffee king David King. The manor has views of Mt. Kilimanjaro to the south and the Ngong Hills to the east. The endangered Rothschilds giraffes were hand-raised from infants here and roam freely around the guests.

Owned by 3rd generation Kenyans of English descent, this 35,000 acre ranch and lodge evokes scenes from a Hemingway novel or Beryl Markham memoir. The resort provides horses to ride, good French country food, and an opportunity to experience the traditional in visits to a Masai village supported by the lodge.

Lord Baden Powell, founder of the World Scout Movement, lived at this traditional country hotel and his cottage is now a museum. Tea is served on a on a vast lawn under towering trees with peacocks strolling among the tables. Located near the entrance to Kenya’s great national parks, the hotel also provides base camp lodging and transportation arrangements for those going on to the Treetops safari lodge.
